In response to the pressing challenges and threat of serious food poisoning outbreaks linked to street foods, this project is fully committed to preserving the vital functions of the Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory (RSTL). Its primary goal is to equip this laboratory with the capabilities needed to effectively address the local street food vendors, and testing requirements, ultimately elevating the safety standards of street food offerings.
This collective endeavor brings together essential stakeholders, namely the City Government of Puerto Princesa, LGU-Narra, and LGU-Coron. Together, we engaged in assessing the street food vendors' compliance with existing food safety regulations.

This GIA-funded Food Safety Project which will sustain the operational funds needed by the RSTL will help attain the RDI strengthening in the region since food safety-related research that could potentially be undertaken will be as extremely useful input for policy making specifically at the LGU level. At present, the policymaking at the LGU is related to food safety is not so much evidence-based as little or no R&D is done to address these issues at the field level.
